Wearables Are Big for 2016

It’s important to stay up-to-date on the latest technology that can benefit event planners. In the way that smartphones are already transforming the attendee experience at trade shows and events, other wearable smart devices will bring a new level of convenience.

One product, a smart bracelet called Cicret (here’s the video), although very much in a development prototype stage, gives a glimpse of future possibilities for wearables. Their slogan is: “Like a tablet…but on your skin.” Hopefully this will go into production this year. There’s already a waiting list with people waiting eagerly to be notified when they’ll be able to purchase this very futuristic device.

Smart watches and other wearables will likely help event planners and participants to:

  • receive GPS directions
  • receive conference alerts
  • exchange contact/lead retrieval information
  • use as admission tickets
  • make audience polling responses
  • enable automated check-in for registration/meeting rooms

Hottest Colors of the Year in Event Decor

A softer take on color for 2016: For the first time, the blending of two shades – Rose Quartz and Serenity were chosen as the PANTONE Color of the Year.

See four ways to use the hottest colors of the year to enhance your event decor; Pantone’s 2016 Colors of the Year: Rose Quartz and Serenity. These hues work well for cocktails like a Blue Lagoon. Decorate with soft pink florals, add accents like these chairs and consider a bright, billowing canopy as a finishing touch.

Here are colors that you can pair with Rose Quartz and Serenity to tone down the two soft pastel shades so they are less like baby shower and wedding colors. Think of pairing them with stone greys, walnut wood tones and beige almond shades.

Think About Having Instaprint at Your Next Event

I read an interesting online article on meetingsmags.com about a new photo option at events. It’s replacing the standard photo booths that have been a large trend these past few years. It is very similar to a modern day Polaroid.

From the article: “Instaprint markets itself as photo booth remade, capturing ‘the entire event, not just the people.’ Developed by Brooklyn-based BREAKFAST, the device links up with Instagram, printing images under a specific hashtag or location.”

“Let’s take advantage of the fact that everyone has a camera on them,” says Michael Lipton, BREAKFAST and Instaprint co-founder and COO. “It’s all driven by Instagram. People can get the app on their phone, hashtag a photo, and then we print the photo—there’s no extra step, no computers, no passwords. It all happens automatically.”

An Instaprint technician can set everything up in under an hour. All that’s needed is a smooth wall to hang the devices, a stable Internet connection and a power outlet. As an added bonus, Instaprint’s software generates an after-event report, which includes the number of people who viewed the photos.

They even offer event analytics. Instaprint is about much more than just printing photos. Every person that hashtags a photo or video is sharing the event they’re at with all of their followers adding up to lots of impressions. Instaprint’s software compiles a report at the end of each event to provide an array of analytics on how well Instaprint performed.

Contact us at 908-771-0804 if you’d like to include this at your next event. We are socially media savvy and up on the latest event technology.

Did you know that there’s a Tiffany Suite at The St. Regis New York? It was designed in conjunction with Tiffany & Co. Design Director Emeritus John Loring. Sitting on the historic hotel’s 14th floor overlooking Central Park, this suite allows guests to channel Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s—all just two blocks from the iconic jewelry store’s flagship. The 1,700-square-foot suite features a cool color palette of bright whites, beige, charcoal grey, silver and, of course, Tiffany blue.
